Sherburn Aero Club wins prestigious award!
We are delighted to announce that Sherburn Aero Club has won the 2024 AOPA Aerodrome of the year Award.
The award was presented by the Chairman of the CAA, Sir Stephen Hillier at Old Warden Aerodrome on Saturday 7th September.
AOPA said in a statement "Sherburn Aero Club is a relaxed, friendly aerodrome which is popular with visitors, club members and local residents. The airfield has well maintained grass and hard runways, an RNP approach for use by any qualified pilots, a relaxed attitude to PPR, a great cafe and modern clubhouse with disabled facilities. Pilots receive a friendly welcome; the staff work hard to connect with their local communties and schools and run charitable events for excellant causes.
Sherburn Aero Club is everything a good British aero club should be: accessible, friendly and affordable. It is a real asset to the local area and the general aviation community.
This is a fantastic achievement for the club and one which we are very proud of. We would like to thank the Flight Desk, Ground Crew, Flying Schools, Digbys Cafe and all our members for their hard work and commitment to the Club.
